HIV 101 Conference: The Last Lecture

A HIV 101 conference has been successfully held in USM on 4 April 2009 from 9am to 6pm. This programme was organized by AIESEC USM which partner with Malaysian AIDS Council, Standard Chartered Bank, Durex and Olympia College. After a warm welcome from the Project Director, the event was officiated by YB Phee Boon Poh, EXCO of Penang state government.

The conference started with an introduction of HIV and AIDS which was conducted by Organizing Committee of AIESEC. The programme went on by a talk from representative of Community AIDS Service Penang (CASP) and World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA). Participants were given the chance to experience themselves the different scenario of people infected by HIV by presenting some sketches. They were also exposed to the importance of safe sex and a demonstration on how to use a condom was carried out. The event reached its climax when a real time experience has been shared by Mr. Mohammed Aliyu Paiko with a title of Sigma and Discriminate to HIV/AIDS Victims: The Nigerian Experience. The conference ended with an active Q&A session between participants and the organizing committee, representatives from CASP and WABA.
 
St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, Penang state once again showed the greatest support with a total of 85 members participated in this event.
